Located on the second floor of the Slovenian Hall, the library has been in continuous use since 1929 with a collection of over 3000 books, magazines, periodicals and brochures in both Slovene and English languages. The library is currently open only during special Slovenian club events at the Hall or by appointment.

~ I Saw Her That Night (To noč sem jo videl) by Drago Jančar, one of the best-known contemporary Slovene authors.

~ A Ballad for Metka Krašovec (Balada za Metko Kraševec) and The Blue Tower (Sinji stolp) by Tomaž Šalamun, who has been described as “perhaps the most popular and prolific poet in Central Europe today.”

~ Necropolis (Nekropola) by Boris Pahor. Pahor is a revered Slovene novelist best known for his Necropolis, a heartfelt description of life as a member of the Slovenian minority in the pre-Second World War increasingly fascist Italy, as well as a Nazi concentration camp survivor.

~ Newcomers (Prišleki) (Book 1 & 2) by Lojze Kovačič. Newcomers, a three-part autobiographical novel about the author’s family struggle to adapt and survive in a hostile environment, is considered one of the most important Slovene novels of the 20th century.

~ Katekizem in Abecednik by Primož Trubar. Trubar is considered to be the founder of the Slovenian literary language and Katekizem was among the first books printed in Slovene.

~ Alamut (original in Slovene), Vladimir Bartol. Considered Bartol’s masterpiece.

~ Why We Are Proud to be Slovenian Americans by Edward Gobetz. Donated by the author.

~ The Slovenes of Northern California, 1860–2001 by Donald Kambic. A detailed history of the Slovenes in San Francisco, including names and data of the original immigrants from 1880 to 1912.

~ The Original Lodge Book of the St. Joseph Lodge (later named Slovenian-American Beneficial Society), dated 1901, with names, places of birth and house numbers in Slovenia of lodge members. 

~ Why We Are Proud to be Slovenian Americans, by Edward Gobetz. Published in 2019 by Slovenian Research Center of America, Inc. It mentions past and current Club members France Rode, Paul Kos and Gary Bukovnik. Donated by Joseph Govednik in December 2024.

~ Tadich Grill, The Story of San Francisco’s Oldest Restaurant, with Recipes, by John Briscoe. Published in 2002 by Ten Speed Press, Berkeley. Donated by the Sustarich Family in April 2026 (from the Ann Sustarich collection).
