Martin Judnich, Jr., was Chief Auditor for the City and County of San Francisco for 38 years, retiring in 1970. 

He graduated from Commerce High School where he was a soccer star and later attained national recognition as a handball player and served for many years as Northern California Commissioner for the United States Handball Association. He was the author of perhaps the most detailed, authoritative book written to describe how San Francisco local government functions. It was published in 1967 and titled “San Francisco Government.” 

He was a musician and song writer and both he and his brother Louis were members of Musicians’ Union Local 6. Written in 1952 and published two years later, his song “Football Polka” was adopted as the official fight song of the San Francisco 49ers. Martin, Jr. died at the age of 65 in 1971 and is buried in the Slovenian Section of Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma, California. 

His father, Martin Judnich, Sr., was a founder of the St. Joseph Lodge and a member of SNPJ Lodge 304.
